Parting Message

Dear 4/3 students,

You truly have been the greatest bunch I’ve taught so far. I am still missing all of you very much.

As you have noticed, I’ve cleaned up the blog a bit, gave it a new header picture and changed the songs. I will be leaving this website for this class to keep in touch from now and beyond. I will not be deleting this blog so that we can keep our memories alive for a longer time.

Last but not least, now that you have moved on to the next stage of your life, don’t forget your teachers, friends and family who have helped you get to where you are now.

Do keep in touch and I hope to see you around soon.

Promotion Day for 2010

I kinda have mixed feelings today when they had their promotion exercise. I was sad because I would be parting ways with them. They are such a joy to teach (exclude the horrible moments when I had to punish them) and they are so kind in their ways. Not all of the pupils I’ve taught were like that and somehow, I like it when they listened to the lifeskills and experiences that I kept sharing with them whenever I can….

Things like how to plan your timetable, the economic recession, parents cutting down on allowances because of that… we discussed about stealing, about learning to listen and not just to “hear”, learning to focus…

We talked about their future, that what they are doing now is in preparation for their future, that what they had read on paper is brought with them and stays with them even after the carbon copies were discarded…

We learnt how to be tolerant of their classmates’ differences because each of them are unique in the many ways… from the way we learn best, to what kind of intelligences we are more inclined to…

I am going to miss this class.

We talked about this for one of our Health Education topics and I thought this is a worthy video to post up here for all of you to watch it again for inspiration. Remember what I said. Appearances don’t matter. It’s who you are inside that counts the most.

H1N1 Procedures – Temperature-taking ONCE daily from next week onwards

As of Term 3 Week 5, we will take our temperatures ONCE daily.

The rest of the procedures does not change. All pupils are to go to their classes for silent reading as soon as they reach school.

Take care of your health. The flu bug is going around.

Mini FOOD and FUN FAIR 2009

This is a reminder for the details of the mini fair we will have this year. The annual National Day Food and Fun Fair Day has been cancelled so we are having this scaled-down to a Mini Food and Fun Fair session.

DETAILS

DAY/DATE: Tuesday, 28th July 2009

Time Slots: 3 recesses (9.15 a.m., 9.45 a.m., 10.15 a.m.). 6 pupils will be rostered to take care of the stalls during each shift. Each shift will last 30 minutes.

Sale of food stuff? Read this!

As I’ve already explained in class, food stuffs MUST be pre-packed. Anything which involves scooping or pouring on the day itself is STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED (directives are from The Management). Having said that….

What can we sell then??

Packet drinks, cookies pre-packed in plastic bags, fruits in small bags (washed and pre-packed already). If you are planning to sell food stuff, please MAKE SURE that they are sold to the intended consumers. This means to say that if the food stuff is NOT halal, please put a note there to inform others about it.

Parents, I need all the help I can get for this mini-stall. We can have a mix of items. So far, the easiest I can think of is to sell fruits, cookies and packet drinks. You can also choose to sell NON-FOODSTUFF like stickers, books.

BUT! Important thing to note is that you should have enough items to sell during all the 3 recesses, but not too much till you have a lot of left-overs from sales.

Price Range?

Items are to be sold at either 50¢, $1, $1.50 or $2.

Where does the money go to??

All of the money/returns will be donated to the school’s needy pupil’s fund.

Why were we told on such short notice?

Yes, I know this is a bit late to be deciding this over the weekends. 4/3 was initially scheduled to have our sales on 3rd July (which would’ve given us about 7 days to prepare and come up with our advertisements and powerpoint slides and posters and what to sell etc).

BUT! Due to scheduling oversight by the management, 4/3 and 4/1 will be switching slots with another two P3 classes as they had swimming lessons on 28th July. As such, they would not be able to make it for the sales.

So we need to work within our time constraints! JIAYOU!!

Mini Food and Fun Fair 2009

We will be having a small-scale Food and Fun Fair 2009 for National Day.

However this will be carried out during school hours during the 3 recesses. 4/3 is scheduled to sell our goods on 3rd August 2009.

Do think of what you would like to sell in order to raise funds. More details will be given later.

Parents, do not hesitate to help out. We can even sell your cookies and goodies too! Prices of goods per pack should be between 50cents to $2 each.

This isa message to you kids who are worried for me (because I was never on MC for 2days straight). I am still on medical leave right now. I am down with flu-like symptoms but thankfully it is not *coughsahemcoughs*.

Tis the season to be sickly tralalalala lalaa lalaa…

I hope you are doing the work I had set for the relief teacher to complete with you in my absence.

I will do my best to get my voice back by tomorrow (I just lost it early this morning) otherwise, you will see me giving you hand signals instead.

All in all, study hard. And take care. Don’t be like your teacher here.
